Privacy Policy

DietOwl, operated by Selektial Software Solution Private Limited ("us," "we," or "DietOwl"), offers ongoing nutrition and wellness guidance ("Programme") covering diet, exercise, sleep, and stress management.

By using our website and related services, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please discontinue use of our Services.


1. Purpose & Compliance

This Privacy Policy is designed to comply with Indian legal requirements, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act"), Section 43A of the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the IT (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011. It explains how DietOwl collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal and health-related information.

Under the DPDP Act, DietOwl acts as the Data Fiduciary with respect to the personal data of its users (Data Principals). Our data handling is governed by the principles of lawful purpose, purpose limitation, data minimisation, accuracy, storage limitation, and accountability.


2. Information We Collect

2.1 Personal Information

  • Name, email address, phone number, and other contact details.
  • Age, gender, location, and lifestyle information.

2.2 Health & Wellness Information

Health and wellness information is treated as sensitive personal data. It is collected only with your explicit consent, recorded at the point of sign-up or consultation, and used strictly for delivering personalised nutrition guidance. You may withdraw this consent at any time by contacting our Grievance Officer, subject to statutory retention obligations and the consequences described in Section 6.

  • Medical history and self-disclosed health conditions, symptoms, and medication details.
  • Dietary preferences, fitness goals, and lifestyle information.
  • Optional blood test results and medical check-up reports, including those provided through third-party laboratories. DietOwl is not responsible for the independent privacy practices of such third-party services.
  • Body measurements, progress photos (where voluntarily shared), and meal photos shared over WhatsApp or other supported channels.

2.3 Usage Information

  • Frequency of visits and interaction with our services.
  • Device details, IP address, operating system, and browser information.

2.4 Payment Information

  • Billing details processed through third-party payment gateways that follow secure protocols.
  • Transaction history records retained for accounting and legal purposes.

3. How We Use Your Information

Your data is used for the following purposes:

  • Delivering personalised nutrition and wellness guidance.
  • Maintaining and improving our services.
  • Communicating with users regarding their programme and account.
  • Processing payments securely.
  • Complying with applicable legal and regulatory obligations.

4. Sharing Your Information

DietOwl does not sell or rent personal information to third parties. We may share data with the following categories of recipients:

  • Internal dietitians and nutrition experts involved in delivering your programme.
  • Third-party service providers who are contractually obligated to protect your data.
  • Legal and regulatory authorities where required by applicable law.
  • Business transfer recipients in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.

5. Data Security & Retention

Security Measures

We employ encryption, secure servers, and restricted access protocols to safeguard your data. However, no internet-based service can guarantee 100% security, and we cannot warrant absolute protection against all threats.

Data Retention

Personal and health data are retained only for as long as needed to provide our Services and meet our legal obligations. As a general guideline:

  • Active programme data (including health information, consultation notes, meal photos, and progress logs) is retained for the duration of your active programme and for up to 24 months after your last active interaction, so that we can support you if you return.
  • Payment and transaction records are retained for the period required under applicable tax, accounting, and regulatory laws, which is typically up to 8 years.
  • Marketing preferences and unsubscribe records are retained for as long as needed to honour your choices.
  • Where you exercise your right to erasure, we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law or for the establishment, exercise, or defence of legal claims.

When data is no longer required for any of the above purposes, it is anonymised or securely deleted in line with our internal retention schedule.


6. Your Rights & Control Over Your Data

As a Data Principal under the DPDP Act, 2023, you have the following rights with respect to the personal data DietOwl holds about you:

  • Right to access and obtain a summary of the personal data we process about you and the processing activities undertaken.
  • Right to correction, completion, updation, or erasure of inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated personal data, subject to legal retention obligations.
  • Right to withdraw consent previously given for the processing of your personal data. Withdrawal will not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal, and may affect our ability to continue providing certain services.
  • Right to nominate another individual who may, in the event of your death or incapacity, exercise your rights under the DPDP Act.
  • Right of grievance redressal through our Grievance Officer, as described in the next section.
  • Right to opt out of non-essential marketing and promotional communications at any time via the unsubscribe option in such messages.

To exercise any of these rights, contact our Grievance Officer using the details in Section 11. We may request reasonable information to verify your identity before acting on a request.


6B. How To Withdraw Consent Or Exercise Your Rights

You can exercise any of the rights in Section 6, including withdrawing consent, requesting correction, or requesting deletion of your personal data, in a simple, direct way:

  • Use our account deletion form to submit a deletion request in under a minute.
  • Send an email to support@dietowl.in with the subject line "DPDP Request" and specify what you would like us to do (withdraw consent, correct data, delete data, or provide a data summary).
  • Or message our WhatsApp support line at +91 8010418033 with the same request.
  • Or write to our Grievance Officer at the address listed in Section 6A.

We aim to acknowledge requests within 7 working days and complete them within 30 days. Withdrawal of consent for processing data that is essential to your DietOwl programme may mean we can no longer provide the service, and we will inform you if that is the case before acting.


6A. Grievance Officer

In accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Rules, 2011, DietOwl has appointed a Grievance Officer to receive and address complaints regarding the processing of personal data and any violation of this Privacy Policy.

We aim to acknowledge complaints within 7 working days and resolve them within 30 days of receipt. If you remain dissatisfied with our response, you may escalate your complaint to the Data Protection Board of India established under the DPDP Act.


7. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to improve user experience and analyse usage patterns. Users may control cookie preferences through their browser settings, though disabling cookies may affect certain website functionality.


8. Third-Party Links & Services

Our website may contain links to external services, including medical laboratories and partner platforms. These third parties maintain their own separate privacy policies, and DietOwl bears no responsibility for their data practices.


9. International Data Transfers

Our servers are primarily located in India; however, data may be stored or processed internationally through third-party service providers. DietOwl takes reasonable steps to ensure compliance with applicable data protection laws in such cases.


9A. Children's Data

DietOwl's services, including our child nutrition programmes, are engaged by parents or legal guardians on behalf of their child. Where services involve a minor below 18 years of age, the parent or legal guardian is the primary point of contact and is responsible for providing verifiable consent for the processing of the child's personal data.

In line with the DPDP Act, 2023, we do not undertake tracking or behavioural monitoring of children, do not direct targeted advertising at children, and process a child's personal data only to the extent necessary for providing the service requested by the parent or guardian. Parents may exercise all data rights described in Section 6 on behalf of their child.


10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

DietOwl may modify this Privacy Policy periodically. Significant changes will be posted with an updated effective date. Continued use of our services following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
